Happy Holidays: Auntie Pamela

Listen to the audio recording of this message.

Dear Holiday Child of My Heart,

Do you feel the Christmas Magic in the air? Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and imagine yourself at my front door. Through your mind’s eye, see my twinkling lights. They sparkle like the light in your eyes. Welcome to our home. In our house, we don’t look at packaging, we look at souls. We see the beautiful, unique, expression of life which is YOU! If it is okay, I would like to give you a big hug. I am a hugger and love to share energy with others through a welcoming hug.

Come on in! Take off your shoes and sit down. I hope you don’t mind the cocker spaniels. They are love muffins. Once Honey gets used to you, she will probably cover you with puppy kisses!

I hope you like my decorations. My two trees are decorated with themes. The one in my formal room has ornaments from our travels. Decorating it each year, reminds me and the family of where we have had good times on vacations. Have you been to any of the destinations that we have gone to? Or do you wonder about a place we have been? Love to talk with you about your ideal vacation. Everyone in our family has such different visions of what makes a great vacation spot, what’s yours?

I hope you don’t mind, but I haven’t finished the tree in the den. I thought you would enjoy helping me put the ornaments on it. It is a “my favorite things” tree. It has dog and Disney character ornaments! Did you have any favorite Disney characters? Hopefully, I have your favorite. I have been collecting them for years and have so many. Of course, there are several of Lady and the Tramp since it is all about that cutie cocker spaniel. Do you have a dog or like dogs? Are you a cat person? I just love animals. You will also notice some initial ornaments on this tree. They represent each family member. I hope you don’t mind, but I got one for you. Would you like to put it on our tree, or take it home with you? Either way, I’m good.

I like to do a lot of baking during the holidays, would you like a snack? I’ve got pigs in the blanket and sausage balls, if you want something savory; or a variety of cookies if you want something sweet!

If it is okay with you, let’s build a fire, and just sit in the den and talk. I’ll put on some music in the background. Tell me about yourself. What are your interests? I always first and foremost, wanted to be a mom, but once I had that dream fulfilled, I discovered I have a passion for photography! Do you have any artist talents, or are you the engineering/mechanical mind? I think it is so fascinating talking to people. They have so many different ways of viewing things.

Do you have any plans for the holidays? If not, please imagine yourself coming over for a virtual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! We celebrate twice~ we are such party people! We have an intimate family dinner and open presents on Christmas eve, then on Christmas Day, we go for the big family gathering at Grandma’s house.

Although this is about virtually sharing a holiday with you, I want you to know, that the love and caring extended to you doesn’t end with the holiday. Consider me your Auntie. I will always be there to listen.  If you don’t want to talk, but just want to be near someone, I’m okay with that too. We can just sit and “be” with each other. Also know that, even if we aren’t physically near each other, our souls have made a connection. Feel that warmth in your heart, knowing someone cares. I do.

I hope your holiday was fun and your new year will be filled with blessings,

Much love and big hugs,

Auntie Pamela
